New Westminster's 2nd Annual Embrace Aging Month

Queen’s Park Healthcare Foundation, in partnership with the Greater Victoria Eldercare Foundation, invites you to celebrate New Westminster’s 2nd annual Embrace Aging Month in March.  Make connections and discover valuable resources to help you navigate the journey of aging.

Whether you’re a senior, caregiver, Baby Boomer or beyond these free workshops are for you.  After all…we’re all  aging!  Attend the whole series and discover a wealth of useful information to help you Be Well; Be Secure; Be Connected and Be Enriched.

EMBRACE AGING WORKSHOPS AT CENTURY HOUSE

All workshops will be held at Century House, 620 Eighth St, New Westminster on Thursday afternoons from March 1st to March 22nd.   Attendance is free but you must pre-register to reserve your seat by calling 604-519-1066 and stating which talks you want to attend.

Launch of the Defeat Depression Campaign

On May 27th, 2012, Canadians are taking part in the inaugural Defeat Depression Day to raise awareness of depression and to reduce the stigma associated with the illness. In communities across this country, mental health organizations, community groups, caring companies, and concerned employees and volunteers are organizing local walks, runs, rides and other activity events.

BC Seniors Games 2012 - Volunteer

The BC Seniors Games 2012 will be hosted by the City of Burnaby from August 21 - 25.  Registration for volunteers are open now and can be done online at the volunteer registration portal.  Volunteers have always played a very important role towards the successful running of past BC Seniors Games and this year is no exception.  So sign up now!!

At the World's Edge - Curt Lang's Vancouver: 1937-1998
McGill / Thursday, February 2nd / 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Join author Claudia Cornwall, as she discusses her new book, At the World’s Edge–Curt Lang’s Vancouver: 1937–1998 at McGill Library. Curt Lang was a legend in Vancouver and his interests spanned many worlds. He was a street photographer, he built boats and fished, and he later worked in the high-tech industry. At the World’s Edge includes over thirty of Curt Lang’s unpublished photographs of Vancouver, as well as previously unpublished drawings, paintings, and poetry. Free, but space is limited.
